Scoring System Overview

The MPNP Expression of Interest (EOI) ranking system allocates points to candidates based on six factors: language proficiency, age, work experience, education, adaptability, and risk. The official source states a maximum possible score of 1,000 points.

Points are based on your age at the time your Expression of Interest is submitted to the MPNP.

Second Language Points

Your second official language is the one in which you are less proficient. Points are only awarded if you provide a valid language test proving CLB 5 or higher overall.

Domestic Work Experience Points

Work experience is calculated based on the total amount of full years of work experience completed over the last 5 years prior to submitting your Expression of Interest. Full-time employment is defined as at least 30 hours of work per week for a period of six months or more. Do not round up your work experience.

Adaptability Points

Adaptability points are based on the type of connection you have to Manitoba. All candidates must have at least one type of connection. If you have more than one type of connection, you will receive points on your highest scoring connection.

Prerequisites: Regional development points are awarded in combination with another Manitoba connection, except Manitoba Demand, when you have an existing social or economic connection to a community outside of the Manitoba Capital Region. All candidates indicating that they plan to settle outside of Winnipeg must, at the time of application, satisfactorily demonstrate that they have a convincing connection to a region outside of the capital city indicating a strong likelihood that they will make a long-term economic contribution to that region.
