Visa Overview
The Manitoba Graduate Internship Pathway is a stream under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) that allows master's and doctoral graduates who have completed a Mitacs-funded internship in Manitoba to apply for provincial nomination without requiring a job offer at the time of application.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the Graduate Internship Pathway, you must meet the minimum requirements in education, language proficiency, internship completion, settlement funds or employment, and residence in Manitoba.
Education and Qualification Requirements
- You must have completed a master's or doctoral degree program in Manitoba within the past 3 years.
Language Requirements
- Minimum CLB/NCLC 7 (or equivalent) in English or French.
Work Requirements
- You are not required to have a job offer at the time of application.
- You must have completed a Mitacs Elevate or Accelerate (including Accelerate Entrepreneur) internship with an eligible industry and research enterprise in Manitoba.
Financial Requirements
- You must demonstrate liquid funds equivalent to low income cut-off (LICO) requirements for independent financial resources for a six-month period.
- OR you must be employed in a full-time, long-term position in Manitoba.
Residence and Regional Requirements
- You must be residing in Manitoba at the time of application.
- You must show the intent to continue to reside in Manitoba after nomination, including the submission of a Career Employment Plan demonstrating opportunities for a successful career track in Manitoba.
Restrictions and Exclusions
- Refugee claimants, or individuals involved in a federal appeal or removal process, are not eligible.
- Live-in Caregivers currently living in Canada are not eligible.
- Temporary foreign workers currently working and residing in a province other than Manitoba are not eligible.
- Spouses of Canadian citizens or permanent residents are not eligible.
- Individuals who have been refused by the MPNP within the last six months and who are not able to address the reason(s) for refusal are not eligible.
- Individuals who have an active immigration application with any other provincial immigration program or federal immigration program in Canada are not eligible. (Note: an Express Entry profile is not considered an immigration application.)
- If you or your spouse already have an active MPNP application, you are not eligible to submit an additional application to any other stream/pathway of the MPNP.
