Visa Overview
The Tasmania Skilled Employment (TSE) program provides state nomination for the Australian Subclass 190 Skilled Nominated visa, enabling skilled workers employed in Tasmania to gain permanent residency through either a Priority Occupation option or a Long-Term Employment option, each with specific work duration and eligibility criteria.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet employment, salary, residency, skills assessment, and employer criteria to qualify for the Tasmania 190 nomination under the TSE program.
Work
- You must have worked in Tasmania in a role closely related to your skills assessment (same ANZSCO 3-digit group) for at least 9 months under the Priority Occupation option, or 6 months for teaching, health, or allied health occupations, or at least 15 months under the Long-Term Employment option, immediately before applying.
- Employment must have averaged at least 20 hours per week over the qualifying period.
- Salary must be at least AUD 57,000 per year or AUD 28.85 per hour, excluding overtime, penalties, bonuses, or casual loading.
- If self-employed or a contractor, you need a relevant skills assessment and 12 months of business activity in Tasmania.
- There must be a genuine, ongoing need for your role, including a minimum 12-month contract with at least 3 months remaining at the time of application.
- Under the Priority Occupation option, your employment must meet any additional occupational caveats listed for your occupation.
- Under the Long-Term Employment option, your employment must meet any occupational caveats listed for your occupation.
Skills Assessment
- Your skills assessment must be listed as a TSE Priority Occupation for the Priority Occupation option.
- For the Long-Term Employment option, your occupation must be on the Home Affairs skilled occupation list for Subclass 190.
- Employment must be closely related to your skills assessment (same ANZSCO 3-digit group).
Residency
- You must currently live in Tasmania and intend to continue living in Tasmania.
- Your dependants must not live in another Australian state or territory; they must have moved to and settled in Tasmania at least three months before applying for nomination.
- You must genuinely intend to remain employed in Tasmania in your current industry for at least two years after nomination.
Employer
- Your employer must be a well-established business actively operating in Tasmania for the past 12 months (unless longer caveats apply to your occupation).
- Your pay and conditions must be equal to or better than those for Australian citizens or permanent residents.
Documents
- Casual employment is allowed but must comply with the Fair Work Ombudsman’s requirements.
